Caldera Environment Centre is holding its annual World Environment Day Festival on Sunday 3 June from 10am to 3pm at Knox Park in Murwillumbah.
“Beat Plastic Pollution” (If you can’t reuse it, refuse it) is the United Nations theme for World Environment Day 2018 – a call to action for all of us to come together to combat one of the great environmental challenges of our time.

The World Environment Day Festival promotes sustainability and protection of the natural environment and encourages people to care for the environment by providing the information, resources and encouragement to reduce our environmental footprint.
The Festival will include presentations, demonstrations, stalls with local community groups, schools and sustainable businesses, environmental art, children’s activities, speakers space, musical entertainment and delicious food.
Renewable energy will be showcased by the Tyalgum Energy Project solar trailer producing power from the sun on the day and stalls by Enova Energy, the Northern rivers based community owned electricity retailer and Tweed Climate Action Now (Tweed CAN).
Presenters at this year’s event will include Sue Higginson former lead solicitor for the Environmental Defenders Office, Aidan Ricketts, trainer and author of the “Activist’s Handbook” and Jeremy Tager, former environmental adviser to Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth.
The World Environment Day Festival is a sponsored event of Tweed Shire Council. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration, have fun, be informed and inspired.
