Bob Brown Foundation: Nationwide Days of Action to Stop Native Forest Logging in Australia

BBF: “Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed the emergence of an incredible opportunity to protect native forests nationally. Victoria is fast-tracking an end to native forest logging before 2024. We will use this momentum to build towards an end to native forest logging nationwide, and we need you with us.

We have never been at a more critical junction for forests.

We have action plans for the Federal Parliament, New South Wales and Tasmania.

Importantly, we need to tell our supporters about a critical change of date we’ve made for our August Fight for Forest nationwide actions.

The Federal ALP will be considering an end to native forest logging at their national conference in August. The conference falls on the same dates as the nationwide days of action, so we have brought our plans forward by one week.

With the right outcome at this conference, federal Labor could end native forest logging, nationally.

With that in mind, we have decided to pull our August Fight for Forest Days of Action forward by one week to the 10th, 11th and 12th of August.

We want to make sure our actions are fresh in the minds of ALP delegates as they decide the future of Australia’s precious native forests.

Our new plan is to take action in the forests on Thursday 10th, at MP’s offices on Friday 11th, and to rally in key cities and towns around the country on Saturday 12th. Tomorrow we’ll also launch our ALP Lobbying Plan – we’ll be calling on our supporters to meet with their federal ALP MP to speak about forests, in the lead up to these August actions.

Finally, we wanted to let you know about some exciting new job opportunities with the Foundation.

We are hiring rally organisers in Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, South Coast NSW, Northern Rivers, Mid-North Coast NSW, Perth and Brisbane.

If you, or anyone you know, is a talented organiser with a passion for native forests, please submit your application as soon as possible so we can get the ball rolling on these rallies.   We will talk more about all these exciting opportunities at tomorrow’s webinar, with more actions and events announced by the end of this week.”
